STEM Starts Early
STEM isn’t just for high school or college—early childhood experiences in STEM set the stage for a lifetime of curiosity, exploration, and learning.
This spring, the Network was thrilled to connect with Cape Cod’s educators at the Early Childhood Educators Wellness Day at Cape Cod Community College, as well as at the Directors Meeting held at the CC Toy Library. We are proud to support early childhood educators through curated resources available in our lending library including:
123 VEX classroom bundle which brings early fundamentals of computer science and mathematics into the classroom with fun, kid friendly robots that are screen free. Vex offers free lesson plans and curriculum support online including story-based lessons and short activities that blend, mathematics, art, science and computer science.
You can check out the 123 VEX classroom bundle at the STEM Library

Coming Soon! Blue-Bot, the programmable floor robot.
This programmable floor robot introduces children to the world of coding and robotics in an interactive and engaging manner. With the capability to communicate with other Blue-Bots and Bee-Bots, it fosters teamwork and develops communication skills. Its transparent design allows children to peek inside, sparking curiosity about how technology works.

We are also happy to share with you tremendous, free, early childhood STEM curriculum resources and professional development created by our partner network at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI).

The I Am STEM – STEM I Am Library is free and accessible to all educators. It includes engaging, standards-aligned lessons tied to grade-level ELA and math/STE frameworks, all designed to be used in classrooms or remote settings. Activities use everyday and recyclable materials, making them both practical and sustainable. WPI’s Central Regional STEM Network also offers online professional development opportunities.
The Seeds of STEM is a year-long, integrated STEM curriculum designed specifically for preschool and pre-K classrooms. This standards-aligned program supports early learners through hands-on, developmentally appropriate STEM experiences.
